For this Blog, I decided to do some extensive research pertaining to eating disorders. I analyzed what it is defined as, the symptoms that are included with the disease, possible treatment options for those affected by eating disorders, and how teachers can help and guide students who suffer from eating disorders. Eating disorders are something in life that cannot be taken lightly. It is an area that requires great focus and effort so that we can help members of society who suffer from these disorders. Eating disorders worsen the eating habits of their victims, which can lead to a series of effects, including stomach pain, overeating, lacking appetite, and feeling embarrassed about eating practices. Luckily, treatments such as psychotherapy, and nutritional counseling, to name a few, exist for those in need of support (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, n.d.). As future teachers, recognizing the nature of this disease and understanding the damage it...

Are we overreacting to Cyberbullies? Association for Psychological Science - APS. (2014, May 13).  https://www.psychologicalscience.org/publications/observer/obsonline/are-we-overreacting-to-cyberbullies.html               Technology was supposed to be our greatest friend, they said. It would improve the world and spark a whole new life of possibility and opportunity. School Violence Prevention & Intervention: Teachers College Columbia University. Teachers College - Columbia University. (n.d.). https://www.tc.columbia.edu/continuing-professional-studies/programs/all-offerings/school-violence-prevention--intervention/ Introduction      For this second blog, the question that will be addressed pertains to the age level of students I plan on working with and how the problems that emerge with school violence-related activities can hinder my teaching ability. As a future educator, I aim to work with students at the elementary level and help them develop the necessary foundation for their education. This goal, however, is only achievable if the safety element is held and obtained to a proper standard. After analyzing this module, I've been made more aware of just how detrimental forms of school violence can be to the safety of all. While I came across solutions to limit this violence, I've seen that issues with school violence can affe...

(EBU), E. B. U. (2019, November 20). Gender Equality Steering Group . EBU. Retrieved February 2, 2023, from https://www.ebu.ch/groups/gender-equality After examining this module and really engaging in the articles and documentary, I can see why gender diversity is such a critical issue that needs to be addressed so we can create comforting and safe learning environments for all. One of the most eye-raising and alarming takeaways from this module is just how much gender diversity is affecting our schools and the toll it is taking on some students. It's been examined that "Gender-diverse students often report feeling unsafe at school, avoiding gender specific spaces (e.g., restrooms), and experiencing harassment at school" (American Psychological Association, n.d.). This information provides that some students don't believe or feel they are in a welcoming and safe environment. This deteriorates the ability to learn and creates a problematic situation for finding happi...
